7 Wonders scoring: the seven-step end-game count explained

July 4, 2026 · 4 min read

Quick answer

7 Wonders is scored at the end in seven steps: military tokens, coins (1 point per 3), wonder stages, blue civilian cards, science (each symbol type squared, plus 7 per set of three different symbols), yellow commercial effects and purple guilds. Adding it all up is the hardest part of the game.

The seven scoring steps

Score each category for every player, in order — a shared sheet with one column per player keeps it honest:

  • Military — add your victory tokens (+1/+3/+5 by age) and subtract 1 per defeat token
  • Treasury — 1 point per 3 coins, rounded down
  • Wonder — the points printed on your built wonder stages
  • Civilian (blue cards) — the printed victory points
  • Science (green cards) — see below, it deserves its own step
  • Commercial (yellow cards) — the ones with end-game point effects
  • Guilds (purple cards) — points based on what you and your neighbours built

How does science scoring work?

Science is where most totals go wrong. For each of the three symbols (tablet, gear, compass) you score the number of that symbol squared. Then every complete set of three different symbols adds 7 points.

Example: 3 tablets, 2 gears and 1 compass score 9 + 4 + 1 for the symbols, plus 7 for the one complete set — 21 points.

Frequently asked questions

How do you score science in 7 Wonders?

Square the count of each symbol type (tablet, gear, compass) and add the results, then add 7 points for every complete set of three different symbols. For instance 3+2+1 symbols score 9+4+1+7 = 21.

How much are coins worth in 7 Wonders?

1 victory point per 3 coins in your treasury at the end of the game, rounded down. Debt from military defeats has already been paid in tokens, not coins.

What happens on a tie in 7 Wonders?

The tied player with the most coins in their treasury wins. If that is also tied, the players share the victory.
